Havana, September 29 (RHC) - Cuban Roxángel Obregón is in second place in the World Junior Chess Championship, held in Mexico.

With her victory in the most recent date against the Irish Trisha Kanyamarala, the Cuban Roxángel reached 6.5 points and appears equal in second place with the Bulgarian Beloslava Krasteva, and only half a unit behind the American Carissa Yip, leader of the tournament.

The Cuban has had an outstanding performance in the last two rounds, since before her victory against Kanyamarala she had beaten the Indian favorite Ravi Rakshitta, one of the best in the world in her category.

The other Cuban, Ineymig Hernandez, defeated Paula Hernandez (Mexico) and occupies the 12th place with 5.5 units among 85 trebejistas.

In the men's sector, the best result of the Cubans on Thursday was achieved by Kemel Gallo, who defeated Marius Fromm, from Germany, to climb to 25th place with 5.5 points.

Also winning his game was Roberto Ramos (42nd place), while Jorge Perez was defeated (32nd).
