Havana, November 27 (JIT) - Cuba won three gold medals on Sunday at the VI Central American and Caribbean School Games of Venezuela 2023.
According to information from the delegation, judoists Aislin Alpajón Leiva and Yainet Coronado López reigned, in that order. The other golden prize came in athletics, in the 100-meter hurdles, thanks to Havana-born Niuvis Maysis Álvarez Angulo.
In boxing, the island's team added the victories of Eudis Brook (50 kg) over Panama's Armando Flores (5-0 judges) and Yeison Pamia (66 kg) by RSC against Fernando Lopez, from St. Lucia.
For the final bouts, scheduled for November 27 and 28, Cuba has secured four boxers... Bárbaro Quevedo will face Venezuelan Sebastián Rodríguez in the 48 kg; Eudis Brook will face local Kevin Betancourt; Teudis Brook will challenge Nicaraguan Elías Flores in the 63 kg and Yeison Pamia will face Colombian Adolfo Cifuentes in the 66 kg.
The delegation also confirmed that actions continued in chess, tennis, swimming and volleyball for men.
This Monday, wrestling, athletics, weightlifting and taekwondo finals are scheduled to take place. In addition, chess, swimming, table tennis and volleyball will continue.
