Cuban tryouts

Havana, Sept 26 (PL) - A total of 69 young Cuban baseball players will be shown on September 28 and 29 before scouts from foreign clubs at the Latin American Stadium in Havana, announced the National Baseball Commission.

The players who will show their tools with the aim of signing a professional contract were chosen by the specialists after preliminary tests in three regions of the country where talents from all provinces were summoned.

Among the group are 11 players who are currently part of the national pre-selection that is preparing for the Premier 12, to be held in November in Mexico, China Taipei, and Japan.

Among the members of the Cuban pre-selection that will be shown at the tryout are catcher Andrys Pérez (MTZ), outfielders Denis Peña (LTU) and Carlos de la Tejera (ART), and pitchers Enyer Fernández (GTM), Osdany Rodríguez (VCL), Randy Martínez (PRI), and Raymond Figueredo (HAB).

This is the second time that Cuban baseball players are shown here on the island before international scouts from foreign clubs.
