Cuba secures second bronze in World Youth Boxing Championship

Budva, Montenegro, Oct 30 (PL) Cuban boxer Yojander Fuentes, in the 57-kilogram division, defeated Russian Islam Ibragimov today and advanced to the semifinals of the World Youth Championship held in this European city.

With this victory, the Cuban delegation secured its second bronze medal, after David Manuel Espinosa (86 kg), who defeated Daniil Guranda of Moldova by knockout.

Angel Sober (48 kg), Yurisniel Abreu (75 kg), and Javier Alexander Rawlins (86 kg) were left without medals on Tuesday, after losing in the quarterfinals to Azerbaijan's Bilalhabasi Nazarov, Kazakhstan's Sanzhar-Ali Begaliyev, and Russia's Kamil Dzhamaev, respectively.  

In previous dates, the mission of the Antillean country suffered three other defeats in the fists of Kevin Sanchez (54 kg), Jorge Luis Mayeta (80 kg), and Yoelvis Leyan Tejera (63.5 kg).

Cuba could not achieve its goal of surpassing the result of the event in La Nucia 2022, Spain, where it won two gold medals, one silver and three bronze medals.
