Cuban vs St. Kitts and Nevis
Santiago de Cuba, Nov 19 (RHC) - The Cuban national soccer team qualified for the preliminaries of the Gold Cup 2025, after defeating its similar team from St. Kitts and Nevis at the Antonio Maceo Stadium in Santiago de Cuba.
The locals were far superior to their rival, reflected in the 4-0 scoreline, the 27 shots taken and 11 that were on target. Cuba should have scored a goal early on, due to its own merit and the rival's disdain, reports JIT.
It was at the 39th minute that Onel Hernandez received a ball into space from captain Paradela and scored with a mixture of precision and strength that matched his responsibility in this team. Then Yosel Piedra, taking advantage of a series of touches in the area, scored the second just before the break and in the second half it was more of the same.
Paradela scored the third after a spectacular team-up with Matos in the area. “We are satisfied with the result, things went as planned, we played our game and that gave us the victory. We are confident in the team we have, with a mix of youth and experience, and it's up to those with more experience to help them. With that we will surely continue to win,” said the captain.
As soon as Maykel Reyes entered the field, he found the ball eleven steps from the goal, and he did not miss. He wanted to give the penalty to one of his teammates, but coach Castillo entrusted him with the shot.
Castillo congratulated his players for the excellent game, and described ball possession, tactical analysis, and strict compliance with the game plan as key factors. He attributed the success to this.
