Havana, Dec 2 (RHC) - Cuba's Robertlandy Simón shone again in the latest round of the Italian Volleyball Super League, leading Piacenza to a 3-0 win over Grottazzolina and deserving the distinction of Most Valuable Player of the match.

In the match of the tenth date of the best volleyball league in the world, Simon scored 12 points, with 3 blocks and two aces and a remarkable attacking efficiency average of 88 percent.

After ten games played, Piacenza is fourth in the standings (7-3), behind undefeated leaders Perugia (10-0), Trentino (9-2), and Lube Civitanova (7-4).

Other outstanding Cubans were José Miguel Gutiérrez and Roamy Alonso.

The younger of the Gutierrez brothers scored 17 points in Modena's five-set win over Taranto and was his club's second-highest scorer behind Paul Buchegger (20).

For Taranto, Alonso went for 13 points, three of them in blocks.

Another Cuban who played on the tenth date was left-handed opposite Jesus Herrera, but he barely saw action and only scored 1 point in the match in which his team Perugia overcame Monza 3-1.
