Havana, Dec 6 (JIT) - After restructuring the schedule, the Cuba U-15 baseball team knocked out St. Maarten 13x1 in five innings to remain undefeated in the Caribbean Cup in Nassau, capital of the Bahamas.

At the Andre Rodger Stadium, the team coached by Holguin mentor Walmer Urrutia hit nine home runs, with starter Johan Acosta and designated hitter Antonio Nolasco -with three runs-, who both hit 3-2, with doubles.

José Luis Arias pitched 2.1 innings without allowing any hits or runs and with five strikeouts.

However, the victory will go to first reliever Joseph Arias, who got five outs, three via strikeout.

The only score for the defeated team came in the last inning, scored by second reliever Lekian Acosta.

This is the second Cuban knockout in a pair of games. The U.S. Virgin Islands (12x0) received the first and will face the local Bahamians this Thursday.

This Friday Cuba will close the qualifying phase precisely against the hosts.

Four teams are participating in the competition and the semifinal phase will be played on Saturday, with first-versus-fourth and second-versus-third duels.
