United Nations, August 26 (RHC)-- The United Nations Children’s Fund says the power shortages in the Gaza Strip have reduced access to water by one-third in recent months, in the midst of a sweltering summer heat wave.

The Israeli government-imposed power reductions have also disrupted the functioning of hundreds of water and wastewater facilities, causing the number of water-borne cases of diarrhea to double for children under the age of three. The United Nations has warned the Gaza Strip has become unlivable for its two million residents.
