Geneva, October 11 (RHC)-- The International Labor Organization (ILO) says that 218 million children between 5 and 17 years are in employment worldwide, and that among them 152 million are victims of child labor.

According to data revealed by ILO´s Global Estimates of Child Labor Results and Trends, 2012-2017, almost half of child labor Is found in Africa.

The practice is mostly concentrated in agriculture which includes fishing, forestry, livestock herding and aquaculture, and comprises both subsistence and commercial farming; 17% in services; and 12% in the Industrial sector, including mining.

ILO said that the UN's Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal Target 8.7, will not be achieved unless efforts to fight modern slavery and child labor are dramatically increased. That target asks for the elimination of child labor by 2025.

Buenos Aires, the Argentinean capital, will be hosting in mid-November the IV Global Conference on the Sustained Eradication Child Labor.
