La Paz, April 24 (RHC) -- Bolivian President Evo Morales Wednesday called on young people of Latin America to actively participate in the decision making and policy formulation process that could help the development of the region.

Speaking at the opening of the two-day Latin American Youth Summit in Santa Cruz, eastern Bolivia, Morales said the summit could be a source of ideas and proposals for the upcoming Group of 77+China Summit, to be held in the same city on June 14th and 15th.

The summit also serves as an opportunity to promote common regional values, said the president.

Of some 23 issues on the agenda for the G77+China Summit, seven have been selected by the young delegates for debate, including South-South cooperation, poverty eradication, migration and unemployment, and sustainable development.

The summit has drawn about 3,000 youths from the entire Latin America, including delegations from different indigenous communities in Bolivia.

The G77+China bloc, founded to jointly voice the concerns of developing nations within the United Nations system, gathers 133 developing and emerging nations (originally the Group of 77) around the globe.
