Tegucigalpa, August 22 (RHC)-- The authorities of the National Electoral Council (CNE) of Honduras postponed until this Sunday the drawing of the positions that political parties will occupy on the ballots for the elections of next November 28th.

The decision was taken by the Honduran electoral body after confrontations between representatives of some political organizations.  Kelvin Aguirre, one of the three directors of the CNE announced that the drawing of lots was suspended due to the lack of presence of all political parties, while sending a message of tranquility in view of the violent events that took place at the site where the event was to be held.

Activists of the governing National Party and of the Liberty and Refoundation (Libre) came to blows on the premises of the National Institute of Professional Training (INFOP), in the Honduran capital, leading to the suspension of the electoral activity.

Tempers began to flare in the afternoon, when representatives of minority parties expressed their rejection to the decision of the interim president of the CNE Rixi Moncada to give the first places on the ballot to the Liberal, National and Libre parties.

The privilege that Moncada intended to attribute to the three major parties, is because they are the only ones that held internal elections or primaries, in March.  Jorge Aldana, councilman of the Mayor's Office of Tegucigalpa for the Libre party, was injured in the brawl and was taken to a medical center, as well as other injured people.

According to local media, gun shots were heard in the INFOP premises.  The CNE will announce the time of the new convocation for this Sunday, always at the INFOP headquarters.
