Caracas, June 27 (PL-RHC) -- Venezuelan Attorney General Luisa Ortega has denounced an attack against the headquarters of the Public Ministry in Caracas.

She noted that once again “the prosecution was the victim of intolerance. They attacked our headquarters and vandalized them.”
The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, June 26th, as armed men fired on the headquarters located on Mexico Avenue, she said. Ortega's messages on the social network Twitter are accompanied by images that show the damage to the facility. On February 12th, the ministry was the target of violent right-wing groups, "called to generate actions to destabilize the country."

Meanwhile, the government has created a Special Brigade (BEGV) to fight the actions generated by violent groups, an initiative that aims to ensure safety of the population. According to a presidential decree, the body is under the Ministry of Interior, Justice and Peace.

The decree said: "The brigade will have as its aim to coordinate, analyze, evaluate, organize, direct, implement, and request information and actions from all organs of state security, to neutralize and control activities generated by violent groups."

In addition, it will establish and require information on state security, defense, intelligence, internal order and external relationships from public and private institutions on the actions of the groups referred to in any aspect of national interest.
