Bogota, February 4 (RHC)-- An armed group carried out a raid in the community of El Basal, located in the department of Putumayo in southwestern Colombia, and killed three people, according to the non-governmental organization (NGO) Justice and Peace Commission (Comisión de Justicia y Paz).

The Institute for Development and Peace Studies (Indepaz) said in a message published on its Twitter social network account that this criminal act became the 15th massacre to occur in the South American country so far in 2022.

The Justice and Peace Commission said in a statement that the gunmen killed Efrén Ramos, prosecutor of the Junta de Acción Comunal (JAC) of El Basal inspection of Yurilla, located in the municipality of Puerto Leguizamo, and two young people, whose identity is unknown for now.

The NGO mentioned that, based on the first versions, the bodies show signs of torture and burns, while the house where two of the victims were found was incinerated.

It indicated that in that region the presence of illegal armed organizations Carolina Ramirez and Comandos de Frontera has been confirmed, as well as the military presence of the Colombian army in the inspection of Yurilla.
