Caracas, February 13 (RHC)-- Venezuela received this Saturday a donation of 17 tons of medical supplies against COVID-19 as well as protective equipment as a result of the solidarity collaboration between Caracas and the Government of Belarus.

Venezuelan Foreign Minister Felix Plasencia went to the Simón Bolívar International Airport in Maiquetía, La Guaira state, to receive the donation.  He was accompanied by the portfolio's Deputy Minister for Europe, Daniela Rodríguez.

Plasencia stated that the donation is part of the "confirmation of a route of the solidarity meeting of two countries working for peace and dignity."   He also stressed that the strategy implemented by the Government of President Nicolás Maduro to face the pandemic prioritizes prevention and the acquisition of medicines and necessary medical equipment, for which it has gained the confidence of the people.

The reception ceremony in Maiquetía was also attended by the Ambassador of Minsk in Caracas, Andrei Molchan, who highlighted that both countries have a cooperation route and the will to consolidate policies in the trade area.

The donation arrived in Venezuela aboard a Boeing 747-300 aircraft of Emtrasur Cargo, a subsidiary and cargo segment of the Venezuelan airline Conviasa (Consorcio Venezolano de Industrias Aeronáuticas y Servicios Aéreos S.A.).

This is the first flight coordinated by this company, according to information provided through the social network Twitter by the Deputy Minister of Air Transport and President of Conviasa, Ramón Celestino Velázquez.

In the Belarusian capital, the aircraft was cleared for loading with the support of the Ministry of Health and the local Ministry of Emergencies.  The process was closely followed by the Venezuelan ambassador in Minsk, Franklin Ramírez Araque, and the general director of the National Airport, Viacheslav Joroneko.

Cooperation relations between Venezuela and Belarus, strengthened since the advent of the Bolivarian Revolution, include mining, gastronomy and agriculture, among other areas.
