Uruguayan President Mujíca to Meet Vladimir Putin in Brazil

Montevideo, July 16 (PL-RHC) -- Uruguayan President Jose Mujica will meet his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, on Wednesday in Brasilia, a second meeting following the meeting in Buenos Aires.

Mujica met with Putin in Buenos Aires on Saturday, by invitation of Argentinean President Cristina Fernandez, and said there is mutual interest in exchanging trade between the two countries.

Putin is undertaking a Latin American tour, during which he has visited Cuba, Nicaragua and Argentina. Putin will meet Mujica after his participation in the 2nd working session of the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) Summit.

Thursday afternoon, Mujica will be received by the President of Brazil, Dilma Rousseff, and Chinese President Xi Jimping.

President Mujica will also attend the Brazil-China-CELAC Summit with Mexico and South America, departing Thursday evening for Asunción, Paraguay, for a meeting with Paraguayan President Horacio Cartes.
