Brasilia, May 31 (RHC)-- Upon his arrival to the summit of South American presidents in Brazil, Colombian President Gustavo Petro affirmed that Latin America must have a unified voice, not only in discourse but also in actions.
"Latin America has to play a united role, have a unified voice because it has great potential. It has in its hands, in its own territory, several of the important solutions to the integral crisis that humanity is experiencing," Petro told journalists.
The Colombian leader, who was the last of the 11 leaders to arrive at the Itamaraty Palace, headquarters of the Brazilian Foreign Ministry, affirmed that "the world panorama is critical" and that "it is not about fighting with the world, it is about overcoming the world's problems".
"The world panorama is critical. Undoubtedly Latin America has to play a united role," said Colombian President @petrogustavo upon arriving at the meeting of South American leaders.
"This meeting clearly aims to clarify that role of Latin America, to debate it, to try to reach consensus," he added. Petro insisted that the continent must unite to combat climate change, make a transition to clean energy and save the Amazon rainforest.
