Paris, Jun 22 (RHC) Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on Thursday affirmed that the Amazon belongs to all humanity.
“The Amazon is Brazil´s sovereign territory, but at the same time, it belongs to all humanity. And, for such a reason, we will do everything and every effort to keep it standing,” Lula said in Paris.
He also stressed that rich countries have a historical debt and must finance the preservation of forests, including the Amazon.
The Brazilian president was invited by the band Coldplay to attend the Power Our Planet event at the Campo de Marte in Paris. (Source: Prensa Latina)
