Russia and Qatar

Moscow, Jun 26 (RHC) Russian President Vladimir Putin and Qatar's Emir Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani have confirmed the high level of bilateral cooperation in a telephone conversation, the Kremlin press service said Monday.

According to the statement, issued on the official website of the Russian presidency, the two sides also expressed interest in strengthening mutually advantageous cooperation in various spheres of economic and social life.

"The outcome of the visit to Russia last week of Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al Thani, Chairman of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, was positively assessed," the Kremlin press service added.

Also during the conversation, Al Thani expressed his support for the actions of the Russian leadership in connection with the armed rebellion that took place on June 24.

On June 23, on the Telegram channel of Evgueni Prigozhin, founder of the private military company Wagner Group, several audio recordings with his voice were published. In particular, this businessman claimed that his units had been attacked and blamed it on Russia's military leadership.

In turn, the Russian Federal Security Service opened a criminal case for calling an armed rebellion. The Russian Defense Ministry called the information about the attacks on the "rear camps of the Wagner Group" false.

Russian President Vladimir Putin in his address to the population called the actions of the Wagner Group structures armed rebellion and treason. The head of state assured that measures against the insurgents would be tough.

Later, the press service of the President of Belarus reported that Evgeny Prigozhin accepted Aleksandr Lukashenko's proposal to stop the movement of Wagner Group fighters.

Prigozhin announced that his units were withdrawing to their camps. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov reported that the founder of the Wagner Group "will leave for Belarus". (Source: PL)
