Lima, July 29 (RHC)-- New reports of police violence in la Plaza 2 de Mayo against demonstrators demanding the resignation of Peru's president-designate, Dina Boluarte, among other demands, was recorded this Saturday in Lima, while the Government held a military parade in the streets of the capital on the occasion of the celebration of Independence Day.

While the authorities carry out the traditional parade on the occasion of the 202nd Independence Day of Peru, which is attended by the appointed president, the police attacked the demonstrators while clashes have been registered between both sides.

Police threw tear gas bombs in the Plaza 2 de Mayo, where relatives of the dead victims of the protests that took place in several regions of the country last January and February were gathered.  In the police action, security agents cornered a group of marchers and prevented them from advancing, as is their constitutional right.

The largest number of demonstrators gathered in Plaza 2 de Mayo, with banners and images of their deceased relatives, mainly in Puno.  However, around 11:00 a.m., confrontations with the police began.  It has also been reported that during this confrontation there is already one injured person: a 39 year old man with a wound in his right leg.

As is known, for several days a series of protests have been announced during the month of July; mainly this 28th and 29th, during the celebrations for the Fiestas Patrias 2023.
