Santiago de Chile, September 10 (RHC)-- In events prior to the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the fascist coup against President Salvador Allende, at the hands of the military, several clashes have been recorded in Santiago de Chile, the capital, between Carabineros and dozens of people who were marching in favor of human rights.

Just a few meters from the Palacio de la Moneda, the special forces of Carabineros dispersed the demonstrators with the use of water cannons and tear gas.  Then, the demonstrators moved towards the Alameda, where there were heavy confrontations with police agents.

The concentration began at 8:30 a.m. local time at the Central Unitaria de Trabajadores (CUT), meters away from the seat of the Executive, where relatives of those detained, disappeared and executed during the dictatorship, as well as left-wing militants, came to take the banners with the faces of the victims.

The march for Human Rights was heading towards the General Cemetery and advanced through San Antonio arriving at Mapocho River, but they were also repressed by the Carabineros.

Earlier, President Gabriel Boric, Judge Baltasar Garzón, and CLATE President Julio Fuentes joined the March for Human Rights and Memory.
