San Salvador, September 29 (Xinhua-RHC) -- The governments of Barbados and El Salvador have agreed on a mutual visa waiver with an eye on bolstering trade and cooperation, the Salvadoran Foreign Affairs Ministry said.
The announcement was made after Salvadoran Foreign Minister Hugo Martinez met in New York with his counterpart from Barbados, Maxine Pamela Ometa, to discuss issues of common interest in the areas of economy and trade.
The agreement on visa waiver for ordinary citizens, officials and diplomatic personnel is aimed at promoting commercial exchanges, tourism and investment between the two countries, the Salvadoran Foreign Affairs Ministry said.
Martinez also expressed El Salvador's interest in signing an air transport agreement with Barbados to boost the inter-connectivity and the flow of people, the ministry said.
Barbados' minister in turn expressed her government's willingness to strengthen bilateral trade and cooperation with El Salvador.
