Washington, July 12 RHC)-- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said his country won’t support NATO’s continued partnership with the Israeli government.

“Until comprehensive, sustainable peace is established in Palestine, attempts at cooperation with Israel within NATO will not be approved by Turkey,” Erdogan told a news conference at the NATO 75th anniversary summit in Washington, DC.

Israel, which was designated a major non-NATO ally by the U.S. in 1987, cooperates with the organization in areas including technology and counterterrorism.

Turkey has been a member of NATO for 72 years -- since 1954.
