Gaza City, July 19 (RHC)-- The Al-Falah school, located in the Zaytoun neighborhood, southeast of Gaza City, was the target of an Israeli airstrike on Thursday afternoon, which left a balance of two civilians killed and five more injured.  According to local sources, after the deadly explosion, the victims, including two dead and five injured, were transferred to the Al-Ahli Arab hospital in Gaza City.

Since October 2023, the Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip has caused the deaths of more than 38,848 Palestinians, most of them women and children.   According to preliminary data, the Israeli genocide has caused more than 89,459 injuries and thousands of people remain trapped in the rubble.

On Thursday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu paid a visit to Rafah, in southern Gaza, for the first time since the start of the offensive against the city on May 6. Rafah has become one of the key areas of a war that has been going on for more than nine months, in which around 39,000 Palestinians and around 326 Israeli soldiers have died.

"My position has been reinforced that your action here, above and below ground, is essential for Israel's security, and that our possession and control of the Rafah crossing is essential for the continuation of the war," the prime minister told the soldiers.  Since October 7, the enclave has suffered a serious humanitarian crisis due to the spread of diseases.

A direct consequence of this situation is the lack of clean water, which has led to more than 26 percent of the Gazan population suffering from acute diarrhea, hepatitis A and other infections, as observed by Doctors Without Borders (MSF) in recent months.

The Gaza Ministry of Health announced on Thursday the existence of polio in samples of wastewater from the Strip.
