Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil has denounced the attack.     Images posted on media show  part of the panels of the site

Caracas, August 26 (RHC)-- In a new fascist attack, this time against Venezuelan history and identity, individuals of the Venezuelan ultra-right vandalized during the last hours the sacred monument to the Liberator Simón Bolívar on Monte Sacro, Rome.

Venezuela’s top diplomat denounced the attack through his channel on Telegram.  Images disseminated through networks and media show how the ultras destroyed part of the sacred site panels.

The post reads> "Once again, fascism attacks and vandalizes the sacred monument to the Liberator Simón Bolívar, in Monte Sacro, Rome; 219 years after that wonderful oath, they still fear the strength of the anti-colonial and anti-imperialist spirit that will always triumph among our peoples."

The diplomat thanked the authorities of the Mayor’s Office of Rome "for the timely steps to protect and recover such important space, symbol of the struggle for freedom."

The vandalized monument recalls the site where, according to most historians, Bolivar made an oath in which he dedicated his life to Latin American independence

The foreign minister said that this devious action demonstrates the inability of the extreme right, which bets on violence by not having a project that mobilizes the masses in its favor.
