Venezuelan foreign minister and Colombian deputy foreign minister meet in Caracas

Caracas, September 10 (RHC)-- On Monday, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil held a meeting with Colombian's Deputy Foreign Minister Jorge Rojas Rodríguez in Caracas.

On the Yván Gil’s Telegram channel, the Venezuelan foreign minister said that “Representing President Nicolás Maduro, we held a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Colombia, Jorge Rojas Rodríguez, during his official visit to Caracas.”

Gil pointed out that he and Rojas agreed to "continue strengthening our bilateral relationship, with a special focus on economic and trade exchange."  In this regard, the Venezuelan top diplomat reported that bilateral trade this year could exceed one billion dollars.

In the message Gil shared, he highlighted: “Friendship and mutual respect continue to bear significant fruit for our peoples.”

For his part, Rojas said that both countries have potential throughout the border area and that the good-neighbourliness policy established by the government of President Petro is on course with Venezuela.

Rojas also recalled that Venezuela is Colombia’s strategic ally in the region to advance integration and to strengthen the border.  He emphasized that Colombia is willing to activate all the mechanisms created and those that have been created before to strengthen the mutual relationship.
