Caracas, November 20 (RHC)-- Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil repudiated on Tuesday in Caracas the U.S. government's recognition of former presidential candidate for the opposition, Edmundo Gonzalez, as president-elect in the July 28th elections.

Washington made an official statement through the Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, who assured in his X account that “the Venezuelan people made a strong statement on July 28th and named Edmundo González Urrutia elected.  Democracy demands respect for the will of the voters”, he said.

Blinken's statement is totally absurd and goes against any democratic principle, since the Venezuelan electoral authority appointed Nicolás Maduro as president of the country with 51.20 percent, equivalent to 5,150,092 voters.

Regarding Washington's position, Gil indicated in his Telegram channel that “the only place you don't come back from is ridicule,” alluding to the attitude assumed by the White House.

He added that “Blinken, a confessed enemy of Venezuela, insists on doing it again, now with a Guaidó 2.0 supported by fascists and terrorists subordinated to the battered US policy.”

The Venezuelan Foreign Minister stressed that in the few days Blinken has left as Secretary of State “he should devote himself to reflect on his failures, get rid of the imperial and colonial complexes and go write the memoirs of how the Bolivarian Revolution made him bite the dust of defeat, just like his predecessors”.
