The Minister of the Interior, Justice and Peace of Venezuela also rejected the U.S. statement where they recognize Edmundo González as the president of Venezuela. “They really are very sheepish, they are very, very sheepish!” exclaimed the leader, denouncing the interference of these powerful people who seek to dictate who should occupy the Miraflores Palace and direct political power in Venezuela.   Photo: VTV.

Caracas, November 29 (RHC)-- During the broadcast of his program "Con el Mazo Dando" on Venezolana de Televisión, Diosdado Cabello, First Vice President of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), emphasized that the new sanctions imposed on Venezuelan officials and military personnel of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) do not benefit the Government of the United States.

“Imperialism believes it can blackmail [Venezuela], that it can pressure, that it can scare us.  They are in their last attempts, throwing out their last straws.  They sanctioned a group of Venezuelans, mostly comrades from the FANB.  You are very wrong, gentlemen of the imperialist squalids and associates.  The FANB is essentially Bolivarian, revolutionary, socialist, Zamorist, anti-imperialist and deeply Chavista. Keep doing your math…”, declared Cabello.

The vice president of the PSUV asked: “What benefit have the sanctions against Venezuela brought to the United States Government?  None.  They do not scare us with that; they have strengthened this people, and we are determined to be free.”  In addition, Diosdado accused the Venezuelan ultra-right of being the promoter of the sanctions, suggesting that their intention is to scare the national government before the inauguration of President Nicolás Maduro on January 10th.

These statements come after the announcement by the U.S. Treasury Department of new sanctions targeting the Bolivarian Government.

Edmundo González and the G7 “are sheep of the empire”

Cabello also criticized a statement by a spokesman for the U.S. government headed by outgoing President Joe Biden who recognized Edmundo González, suggesting that the G7 had quickly aligned itself with this position.

The Venezuelan leader denounced the interference of these powerful people who seek to dictate who should occupy the Miraflores Palace and direct political power in Venezuela.

The Group of Seven (G7), a forum of the most industrialized economies in the world, claims to work in various areas to improve global finance and economy for the benefit of humanity.  During his program, Cabello read a message from Josep Borrell, representative of the European Union, who assured that, for now, the EU “has no intention of recognizing Edmundo González as president-elect.” Cabello joked about it: “Thank you, thank you.  You don’t know how much we appreciate that, Borrell, really.   That had us very worried,” causing laughter among the audience of the program.

The socialist leader also showed a message from French President Emmanuel Macron, who promised not to abandon Venezuela or the “Venezuelan political prisoners.”  Cabello responded, by recalling that during the recent riots in France, Macron’s government detained children and adolescents.  “Nobody says anything,” he added, questioning why there has not been a political transition in France after the victory of the left in the general elections and why Macron -- despite his defeat -- remains in power.

Finally, he exemplified the hypocrisy of the Western world by mentioning the situation in Ukraine, where Volodymyr Zelensky has eliminated political parties and postponed elections, despite the fact that his mandate has expired.  “That happens in Ukraine and nobody says anything, but we are the bad guys because we do not let ourselves be overthrown in Venezuela,” Cabello concluded.
