Caracas, December 18 (RHC)-- Appearing on a special program on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Bolivarian Alternative for the Peoples of Our America – People's Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP), the executive secretary of the entity, Jorge Arreaza, specified that the organization is a possibility that a multipolar world is the destiny of the peoples.

“ALBA is not only alive but feverish in its conviction that humanity can take better paths, that the multipolar world is the destiny of our peoples, that we can generate from political and economic power the happiness of the people; not to dominate but so that the people are happy,” he said.

He also confirmed that ALBA-TCP was born for the union between peoples, “it was born as an alternative to the FTAA, which was an asymmetric project against our peoples.” Likewise, the Venezuelan politician stressed that “there was a harmony of souls and ideas between Fidel and Chávez when they met in 1994. And this was expressed 10 years later in ALBA. ALBA is the synthesis of everything that Fidel and Chávez planned and put into practice.”

Meanwhile, Arreaza highlighted the position of the Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Ralph Gonsalves, who has denounced that the coercive measures of the United States had an effect on oil production.

Given this reality today, “the Petrocaribe scheme could not be reactivated as it was conceived but it is possible to come to produce in Venezuela and take its oil. It is to produce in ALBA territory and satisfy the needs of ALBA," he said.

Palestine: Sister country of ALBA-TCP

The executive secretary of the mechanism stressed that ALBA-TCP is the only international organization that has spoken out in a timely and immediate manner in favor of Palestine, insisting that ALBA has spoken out with a statement per month on the acts of genocide in Palestine and Lebanon.

During the ALBA-TCP commemoration meeting where Palestine was also invited, "the governments that are part of the alliance reject Israel's genocide and demand an immediate ceasefire."

"We demand that the nation and its pre-1967 borders be restructured."  "We declare Palestine a sister country of ALBA-TCP and its commitment to the Palestinian cause, which is the cause for humanity."

Defending Palestine is defending the peoples of the world who can also be seen with a process of genocide and that “when they attack Palestine, ALBA will speak, when it is Haiti, it is ALBA, it is Venezuela, it is Cuba”, who will speak out against these atrocities.

For his part, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil said that ALBA-TCP is a different, advanced political project.  “The difference is that the Alliance is proposed by the people and for the people.  Its essence is popular.  It is not a mechanism of union: the center is the human being and the peoples.  There is no such alliance in the world,” he stressed.

He stressed that Chavez raised national sovereignty and began to build an alternative project to capitalism and neoliberalism. The visit to Havana was fundamental, added the foreign minister.

“A man who came from the military world,” said the minister about Chavez and added that both leaders, Chavez and Fidel, warned about what we are currently experiencing.

In indicating that the vision of the proposal of these two giants was not understood, Yván Gil valued that the BRICS are inspired by the multilateralism proposed by ALBA.
