Ramallah, February 22 (RHC)-- Israeli forces have killed more than 50 Palestinians since their offensive in the northern part of the occupied West Bank started on January 21, and they have inflicted severe damage on water and sanitation infrastructure for Palestinian communities, the UN reports.

According to the most recent report on the West Bank violence by the UN’s Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), six Palestinians were killed, including one child, during the latest monitoring period between February 11 and 17.

Those killings brought the death toll from the Israeli incursion to 51 Palestinians killed, including seven children, the UN reports.  However, since the UN’s reporting period ended on Monday, several more Palestinians have been killed, including two children on Friday night.  Three Palestinians were also killed on Wednesday and another was killed on Thursday night, according to reports.  Those killings, when confirmed, could push the UN’s toll to 56 killed by Israeli forces since January 21, including nine children.

OCHA also counted 34 incidents of Israeli settler violence towards Palestinians in its latest report, including the cutting down and damaging of 155 olive and fruit trees owned by Palestinians.
