New York, October 31 (RHC)-- A woman who appeared in a viral video documenting street harassment in New York City has begun receiving rape threats on-line. Shoshana Roberts experienced more than 100 acts of verbal street harassment over a 10-hour period while being filmed with a hidden camera.
A testament to the pervasiveness of street harassment women face, the video shows the woman walking through the streets of Manhattan, with men yelling: “What's up, beautiful?” and “Hey, Baby” -- and even a stretch when a man just silently walks right next to her for several minutes.
The video, posted as a public service announcement for the anti-harassment group Hollaback, received more than 15 million views on YouTube, where some users began posting rape threats in the comments section.
