Brasilia, February 4 (RHC-PL) -- President Dilma Rousseff opened Tuesday the first house for Brazilian women victims of violence, to be based in Campo Grande, state of Mato Grosso do Sul.

“We are going to build other 25 houses like this as part of the program 'Women Living without Violence',” said the President at the official ceremony.

In 2015, other 12 houses will be handed over in cities such as Brasilia, Curitiba, São Luís, Salvador, Fortaleza, Victoria, Boa Vista, Sao Paulo, Rio Branco, Maceio and Porto Alegre, said the Minister of the Secretariat of Policies for Women, Eleonora Menicucci.

According to the Brazilian president, health care, psychological and legal assistance, and guidance in finding work will be provided in houses like the one that was just opened.

“We want these houses to be benchmarks for women who suffer domestic violence in body and soul. There they will receive protection, guidance and training,” noted Menicucci.

The facility opened in Campo Grande has 126 professionals and the expectation is to reach 160. It is expected that these centers will assist about 200 or 250 cases a day.
