Mexico City, February 20 (RHC-teleSUR) -- Students from the Ayotzinapa teachers training college clashed with military police Thursday, as Mexico marked the 102nd anniversary of its military.

It was reported that approximately 150 students from the “Raul Isidro Burgos” Ayotzinapa College had violent confrontations with army elements from the 35 Zone military installation located in the capital city of the state of Guerrero, Chilpancingo.

No serious injuries were reported during the clash that lasted 15 minutes, and the students continued a march and highway blockade in the capital.

Families of the missing 43 students and their supporters have raised serious questions as to the role of the Mexican army in the disappearance of the youth on the night of September 26. They demand that the attorney general’s office makes public the initial investigation as well as opens a line of investigation into the participation of the military.

Yet in a presidential event celebrating Thursday’s day of the military, the head of the country’s defense department, Salvador Cienfuegos, made clear his rejections of the military being investigated in the Ayotzinapa case.
