Venezuela and Ecuador Elected Members of the UN Council on Human Rights

United Nations, October 28 (RHC)-- Venezuela, Ecuador and Panama were elected Wednesday as members of the UN Council on Human Rights, representing Latin American and Caribbean countries.

Venezuela was re-elected for a second consecutive mandate in the 47-member UN body.

Created in 2006, the Council on Human Rights replaced the UN Human Rights Commission.

The council members are elected for a maximum of two three-year terms. Besides Venezuela, Ecuador and Panama, Latin America and the Caribbean is also represented by Bolivia, Brazil, Cuba, El Salvador, Mexico and Paraguay. Venezuela and Ecuador Elected Memb
