UK Prime Minister’s No Confidence Vote Petition Gains Momentum

London, November 9 (RHC)-- British lawmakers may consider a debate over a no confidence vote in Prime Minister David Cameron as an online petition passes the required 100,000 threshold. The e-petition has been launched by Kelly Teeboon, who describes herself as a "radical feminist" and socialist. It accuses Cameron of wreaking "devastation for the poorest in society for the last five years."

The petition states: “We cannot afford another 5 years of Tory rule, with the recent welfare reform that will cause nothing but immense poverty in the UK.” David Cameron has been specially under fire over his unpopular austerity measures and spending cuts which have affected millions of Britons over the past several years. Nearly 122,000 people have already signed the online petition.

If petitions on Parliamentary website pass 100,000 threshold, MPs should hold a debate to discuss the issues raised. The e-petition initiative was introduced back in 2010 in an attempt boost democracy and transparency in Britain.

Earlier this year, a similar motion urging a debate on a vote of no confidence in Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt, was discarded by MPs despite attracting more than 220,000 signatures.
