Port-au-Prince, February 3 (RHC-teleSUR) -- Representatives from the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States, CELAC, wrapped up a a two-day mission in Haiti with a commitment on Tuesday from the government and Senate to “find a solution” to the current political crisis in the Caribbean nation, in the wake of last month’s presidential run-off being canceled due to violence and fraud allegations.

The news comes as Haiti’s opposition rejected on Tuesday a proposal put forward by President Michel Martelly to form a temporary government to set up a rescheduled run-off election.

Martelly’s term is supposed to expire on Sunday. He proposed that parliament approve a candidate to replace Prime Minister Evans Paul once he resigns, but opposition groups including run-off candidate Jude Celestin have asked for an interim government to be formed by a Supreme Court judge.
