Havana, October 11 (RHC)-- The World Food Program (WFP), in coordination with the Cuban government, will begin to provide victims of Hurricane Matthew in the country's eastern region with humanitarian aid.

WFP said in a communique that the international entity has agreed with Cuban authorities to begin the supply of food to meet the needs of some 189 thousand Cubans, who were affected by the powerful storm in Guantánamo province.

Laura Melo, WFP representative in Cuba, said the UN agency will supply food for hurricane victims over the next six months to support recovery, particularly in the hardest hit areas.
