Havana, February 22 (RHC)-- Cuban President Raúl Castro met Tuesday afternoon in Havana with a delegation from the United States Congress, led by Senators Patrick Leahy (D-Vermont) and Thad Cochran (R-Mississippi).
Other members of the U.S. delegation are Senators Thomas Udall (D-New Mexico) and Michael Bennett (D-Colorado), Congressmen James McGovern and Seth Moulton, Democrats from Massachusetts, as well as Jeffrey DeLaurentis, acting chargé d'affaires at the U.S. embassy in Cuba.
During the exchange, President Raúl and the U.S. legislators discussed issues of common interest for the two countries.
Also participating on the Cuban side was Josefina Vidal Ferreiro, Director General for the United States with the Ministry of Foreign Relations.
Prior to their meeting with the Cuban president, the members of the U.S. congressional delegation held separate talks with Cuban Ministers for Foreign Relations Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla; Foreign Trade and Investment, Rodrigo Malmierca and Agriculture, Gustavo Rodríguez Rollero.
