During the forum, delegates will debate the economy; human, rural and urban development; people's education; gender violence; women’s empowerment; public health; social development; science and technology; race, youth, culture, sexual orientation and public policies will also be discussed.
The conference is being sponsored by the Environmental Bases Project for Local Food Sustainability (BASAL) in the European Union, which aims to support and contribute to Cuba's social and economic development.
The event will also reflect on the thoughts of Cuban Revolution leader Fidel Castro regarding women, their rights and role in society. The campaign 'Eres Mas' (You Are More) against gender violence will be launched during the conference.
The campaign was developed by the Oscar Arnulfo Romero Reflection and Solidarity Group(OAR), a Christian-based organization named after the Salvadoran archbishop assassinated in 1980 that works with the issue of gender-based violence at the community level.
