Havana, June 6 (RHC-PL)-- The search for solutions to production problems is one of the objectives of a global symposium on beekeeping that will be held in Havana next week.
The forum is part of the 7th International Agroforestry Convention, taking place from June 12th to 16th at Havana´s Convention Center. Debates will focus on issues such as bee health and flora, climate change, bee products and their quality.
Juan Carlos Pérez, Director for Science and Technology of the Center for Apicultural Research (Ciapi), told Prensa Latina that the Agroforestry Convention is an umbrella event, that brings together the Congresses of Forestry, Coffee and Cocoa and Apiculture. Specialists and researchers from Cuba and other countries will discuss the scientific-technical and production achievements of these agricultural branches.
The symposium will be honored with the presence of experts in this field, among them Dr. Kaspar Bienefeld, from the University of Nuremberg, a specialist in genetics and improvement of these insects; and Uruguayan professor Ciro Invernizzi, an expert in bees diseases, who will give a master lecture.
In Cuba, beekeeping, along with tobacco and charcoal, are an important source of income for the Ministry of Agriculture.
