Havana, July 3 (RHC)-- Delegates from over 25 countries, together with ministers, deputy ministers, academics and representatives of international organizations, are participating in the 11th International Convention on Environment and Development, which began sessions Monday at Havana's International Conference Center. The event runs through Friday, July 7.
Under the slogan “United and integrated for a prosperous and sustainable development,” the event hosts six congresses on Climate Change, Ecosystem Management and Biodiversity, Environmental Education for Sustainable Development, Protected Areas, Environmental and Political Management, and Environmental Law and Justice.
Three symposia will also be held, dedicated to Sustainability Sciences, Disaster and Climate Risks, and Natural History Museums, as well as a colloquium on Sustainable Land Management and Transport and Environment.
The opening day featured a Colloquium on Fidel’s Environmental Thought, which included the screening of films produced by Mundo Latino, and a special presentation by the Proyecto Acualina.
Cuba’s Minister of Science, Technology and the Environment, Elba Rosa Pérez Montoya, delivered the opening remarks.
According to the event's organizing committee, among the nations attending the event are Mexico, the United States, Colombia, Spain, Argentina, Costa Rica, Chile, Portugal, Peru, the Dominican Republic and Brazil.
