Loreto, July 5 (RHC)-- The governor of the Peruvian region of Loreto, Fernando Meléndez has expressed an interest in Cuba's cooperation in health, education and sports, calling those fields pillars of the local government's social program.
During an exchange with Cuba's Ambassador to Peru Sergio González, the governor of the Peruvian amazonian city explained in detail what he described as 'a worrying social situation' in the region, where chronic anemia affects 60 percent of the population. He asked for Cuba's cooperation to reverse that, praising what he called 'Cuba's significant social achievements.'
The Peruvian official further commended what he called Cuba's altruism, training health specialists from around the world, including dozens of Peruvian professionals.
