Pinar del Rio, July 24 (RHC)-- A group of expeditionaries from the Granma yacht and combatants at the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks are travelling through historic, social and economic sites of the Cuban province of Pinar del Río as part of the commemorative activities for the Day of National Rebellion.

The visit to the westernmost province of Cuba will extend until Wednesday, July 26th, and includes museums, community projects, and some of the works revived here in recent times.

The members of the group had the opportunity to appreciate the transformations in the Jose Marti Park and the restoration of the bronze monument of Antonio Maceo and to exchange with the main authorities of the Communist Party and the local government of the municipality of Vueltabajo.

The revolutionary fighter Ramón Gerardo Gutiérrez Santos commented that the achievements in Pinar del Río are impressive, and he cited the favorable infant mortality indicators and a whole range of areas in which the Revolution has worked intensely.

Ramon Pez Ferro, another of the participants in the Moncada attack, referred to the changes that the province has undergone and said that it can no longer be called “The Cinderella of Cuba.”
