Havana, August 4 (RHC-PL)-- An international workshop to update the epidemiological context of some arboviruses on a regional and global scale will take place next week in Havana, organized by the Pedro Kourí Institute of Tropical Medicine (IPK).
According to the center's website, one of the objectives is to promote information exchange on the most relevant and current aspects of several diseases transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito, especially dengue, zika, chikungunya and yellow fever.
The event, from August 7th through the 18th, will also address issues such as global initiatives to address the co-circulation of arboviruses, the influence of climate change on the spreading of disease and advances in vaccine development and antivirals.
It will gather researchers from Mexico, Argentina, Venezuela, Colombia, Puerto Rico, UK, Ireland, Switzerland, Belgium, Singapore, Japan, Canada and the United States.
The workshop is co-sponsored by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) / World Health Organization (WHO), the American Society of Tropical Medicine, the Cuban Society of Microbiology and Parasitology and the Cuban Ministry of Public Health.
