Ciego de Avila, October 2 (RHC-Granma)-- Cuban linemen who traveled to Ciego de Avila province to assist with the efforts to restore power following Hurricane Irma have returned home.

After 21 days of intense work, almost 1,000 electricity workers from Guantánamo, Granma, Las Tunas, Camagüey and Sancti Spíritus, together with local workers, have succeeded in restoring 99.6% of the energy system across Ciego de Ávila.

Diosdado Hernández, director of the Electrical Company in Ciego de Avila, noted that workers repaired more than 250 kilometers of underground transmission lines, and more than 1,800 km of primary and secondary power lines, as well as 1,020 utility posts and 202 transformers.

He added that some isolated homes still remain without electricity, but brigades of local linemen are working to completely restore power over the next few hours.
