Havana, May 9 (RHC)-- Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel met Tuesday with Alicia Bárcena, executive secretary of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), who is in Havana heading the organization’s 37th period of sessions going on here.
Diaz-Canel and Bárcena reviewed the state of Cuba-ECLAC relations, which they described as excellent, and reaffirmed their willingness to continue strengthening collaboration ties.
Bárcena thanked Díaz-Canel for Cuba’s efforts in organizing the Havana session, while the Cuban president expressed gratitude for the commission’s support in the updating of the island’s economic model. The two officials also discussed international affairs.
The ECLAC executive secretary was accompanied by deputy secretaries Raúl García Buchaca and Mario Zimoli.
Participating on the Cuban side were Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez, Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment Rodrigo Malmierca and Deputy Minister Ileana Núñez, as well as Ambassador Anayansi Rodríguez, Cuba’s Ambassador to the United Nations.
