Havana, October 1 (RHC)-- Delegates and leaders of the Confederation of Cuban Workers, the CTC, in the western provinces of Artemisa and Mayabeque met over the weekend to review results in different productive spheres and listen to concerns of members in the lead up to the organization's 21st Congress.
The event was chaired by CTC Secretary General Ulises Guilarte de Nacimiento, while debates focused on the organization's work at the grass roots level, meeting production plan targets, as well as discussions around a program to strengthen the trade union movement.
Nacimiento addressed wage reforms, an important issue raised during the meeting, and highlighted the economic importance of non-agricultural cooperatives.
Meanwhile, second secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba, José Ramón Machado Ventura, called on affiliates to work toward substituting imports by increasing domestic production, contribute to the country's economy, and find new and innovative solutions to problems.
