Havana, January 15 (RHC)-- Cuba's Foreign Ministry expressed on Monday its confidence in Bolivia's work to revitalize the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) in its role as President pro tempore of the regional bloc founded in 2011 in Venezuela.

The Cuban Foreign Ministry noted that El Salvador has handed over to Bolivia the pro tempore presidency of the regional bloc founded in 2011 in Venezuela.

In a tweet, the Ministry noted that “Cuba, Latin America and the Caribbean entrust Bolivia's presidency during 2019 to revitalize CELAC.”

Bolivia assumes the bloc’s leadership at a difficult time with right-wing governments returning to power and strengthening ties with the U.S., whose current administration is intent on imposing a policy of regional domination, also known as the Monroe Doctrine.
