Havana, January 17 (RHC)-- Cuban legislators have confirmed that the new Constitution of the Republic, which will be voted upon in a referendum on February 24th, is inclusive and modern.
According to Yohana Odriozola, a member of the Magna Carta drafting commission, the text marks the future of the prosperous and sustainable socialism Cuba is building. Odriozola said that the constitutional document includes the opinions of the people who participated in the public consultation held from August 13th to November 15th and involves more than 750 changes with respect to the draft analyzed in the consultation process.
Among the most important changes are the extension of rights and the recognition of different types of families established on the basis of affection.
For her part, lawmaker Yailin Orta affirmed that the Constitution, approved on December 22nd by the National Assembly of People's Power, shows respect for the opinions of the people.
