Havana, March 27 (RHC) Cuban lawmakers are giving the finishing touches on Friday to a new Foreign Investment Bill that will be submitted to a final debate at the National Assembly on Saturday.

The Parliament’s commissions on Economic, and on Constitutional and Legal Issues will prepare the report on the new law and analyze the proposals made on the bill in five territorial meetings that took place prior to the parliamentary session.

The bill was submitted to debates by deputies who approached the issue to clear out doubts and express concerns, and to put forth seven proposals that were included in the final draft. So, the special parliamentary session scheduled for Saturday will analyze all concerns that may be issued by lawmakers in order to come up with a Foreign Investment Law that favors access to funds, technology and markets.

According to Granma newspaper, some of concerns that have stemmed from territorial meetings on the bill have included labor conditions, the protection of workers’ interests, the taxation system, the way new businesses will be approved, the protection of the environment and the sourcing of investment towards major economic sectors.
