The first bioelectric plant built in Cuba will start operating next January

Havana, December 27 (RHC)--The first bioelectric plant to be built in Cuba with foreign investment is in its final phase of execution and will be operational in early 2020.

In January, the modern plant adjacent to the Ciro Redondo sugar plant in Ciego de Avila will carry out the first synchronized generation tests on the National Electro-Energy grid, reports Prensa Latina.

With Chinese technology and executed by the BioPower joint venture, the bioelectric plant will generate 60 megawatts of electricity, 50 percent of the energy consumption of the... 

The plant will produce clean energy using sugar cane bagasse during the harvesting period and process marabú during the rest of the year.
